General Motors has plans to make tomorrow a brighter place for everyone. GM this year announced its pledge to go fully carbon neutral in its operations and products by 2040. That includes a plan to eliminate all tailpipe emissions from new light-duty vehicles by 2035.

“With this extraordinary step forward, GM is making it crystal clear that taking action to eliminate pollution from all new light-duty vehicles by 2035 is an essential element of any automaker’s business plan,” said Environmental Defense Fund President Fred Krupp.

GM is taking a science-based approach to carbon neutrality and decarbonizing its portfolio. Getting to the 2040 goal includes steps like sourcing all energy for production in the United States from renewable resources by 2030. It will also, of course, lead to an exciting range of new, electrified Buick and GMC vehicles.

General Motors is committing $27 billion to electric and self-driving vehicles between now and 2025, which will result in 30 new electric vehicles around the globe. Two of the first to hit Finley Buick GMC in Beloit are the HUMMER EV and HUMMER EV SUV, which you can learn more about through our website or at our showroom.

With GM committing to being carbon neutral by 2040 and delivering exciting new vehicles along the way, the future lights quite bright indeed.
