How General Motors Helped Make COVID-19 Face Masks

Face Masks

As the COVID-19 pandemic made its way to America and quickly began to spread, there was a noticeable shortage of masks. GM did its best to help solve that problem by manufacturing COVID-19 face masks for the essential workers working on the front line.

GM worked quickly to get the masks out as soon as possible. After kicking off the project on March 20, it managed to deliver 20,000 masks by April 8 with some help from GM partners across the globe.

More than 30 engineers, designers, buyers and members of the manufacturing team were tasked with developing the product and planning the production process. Once the production line became a well-oiled machine, GM was able to bring COVID-19 face mask production to 50,000 per day.

These masks help frontline workers to continue working safely, with less risk for spreading the virus around. “Working around the clock, our team rallied with incredible passion and focus to come up with a plan to produce masks that will help protect the women and men on the front lines of this crisis,” said Peter Thom, GM vice president, Global Manufacturing Engineering.

GM not only showed it cared about its workers, but also that it cared for the health of the nation. That kind of dedication to improving the overall situation is crucial, and with mass production of COVID-19 face masks, GM has done its part to get the country back to normal.

As of today, GM has already made several million masks. If you come to Finley Buick GMC wearing a face mask, the odds are decent that it will have been made by GM!

The All-New GMC Hummer EV is Coming

GMC

GMC is bringing back one of the most iconic names in auto history, but it’s doing something you’ve never seen before. On May 20, the world will get its first look at the first-ever GMC Hummer EV, a super truck that occupies a class all its own.

Not only will the all-new GMC Hummer EV generate zero emissions, but it’s going to generate an absolutely incredible amount of power. GMC is promising 1,000 horsepower and an unprecedented 11,500 lb-ft of torque, which will allow the Hummer EV to achieve 0-60 mph in just 3 seconds.* With numbers like that, you can bet that the GMC Hummer EV will be one of the most impressive vehicles to ever hit the road.

To help spread the message, GMC teamed up with one of the most impressive athletes to hit the court: LeBron James. King James appeared in a teaser ad that aired during the Big Game, emphasizing the unyielding power and surprising quietness of the Hummer EV.

“Teaming up with GMC to introduce the Hummer EV is a natural fit. Everyone knows about my love for Hummer since high school and I’m proud to be a part of announcing the new EV model,” said James. “The truck may be quiet, but the performance numbers speak for themselves.”

The fist-ever GMC Hummer EV will speak for itself when it is revealed in full on May 20. Expected to arrive by the fall of next year, you’ll certainly be seeing this zero-emissions, zero-limit electric truck at Finley Buick GMC. Call or email to learn how you can be part of the Quiet Revolution.
